Most Outstanding Contribution by an Individual to the ATEC North Queensland Branch and National ATEC Outstanding Contribution Award

A career dedicated to promoting Australian tourism has earned former North Queensland branch manager and public relations consultant, Pip Miller, the Australian Tourism Export Council’s (ATEC) Most Outstanding Contribution award for 2007.
ATEC Managing Director, Matthew Hingerty, said Ms Miller was a worthy recipient of the award which acknowledges an individual’s key achievements and personal contribution to ATEC.
“Pip’s significant contribution to the tourism industry over the past 15 years has earned her a great deal of respect from her peers,” Mr Hingerty said.
“During her 13 years as Branch Manager for ATEC North Queensland, Pip worked with four Branch Chairs to successfully increase the membership base and manage a number of iconic and memorable events including two ATEC Symposiums in Cairns, Inbound Up North and Sydney Showcase.
“Pip also runs a highly successful public relations consultancy providing professional media relations advice to some of North Queensland’s largest and most successful tourism organisations including Hilton Cairns, Festival Cairns and Big Cat Reef Cruises.
“The success of the NQ Branch, which is often considered the jewel in the crown for ATEC, is largely due to Pip’s tireless contribution and dedication to the tourism industry at local and international levels.
The ATEC Most Outstanding Contribution Award was presented at the Meeting Place gala dinner at Star City Casino in Sydney on Thursday 6 December 2007.

How we do it
A typical public relations activity will have four parts:
• Analyse, research and define the problem
• Prepare a program of action
• Implement the program
• Monitor the results and evaluate the activity.
How it works
Public Relations is the deliberate, planned and sustained effort to establish and maintain mutual understanding between an organisation and its publics.
Pip Miller PR specialises in media relations. The overall aim is to influence the media, who in turn, influence their target audiences to think or act a particular way.
Being able to achieve positive pr for a client brings valuable spin-offs that include boosting profile, establishing credibility, increasing demand and/or the ability to change behaviour.
About
Pip Miller PR is a Cairns based consultancy which was established 14 years ago in response to the growing need for public relations expertise by north Queensland’s business community – wishing to communicate effectively with ‘publics’ or audiences in the local, domestic and international marketplace.
Pip Miller PR is a small, but well qualified team with experience in journalism, graphic design, advertising, direct marketing, special events and indeed, public relations. The consultancy advise principally at board or partner level, where an analysis of the public relations objectives is a natural consequence for mutual confidence and a frank appreciation of the client’s business aims.
This approach has proved particularly suitable to the travel and real estate development industry, where a considered, thoughtful campaign reflects the essential integrity of the clients concerned.
There is no accounting for hands-on experience. A trained journalist, Pip Miller understands the way in which the media works. Since 1988, Pip has worked as a public relations consultant in Sydney, London and now, Cairns. With a penchant for thinking outside the square, a strong work ethic couples with creativity to ensure Pip Miller PR delivers the best possible service on time, all the time.
